Alaska- Whittier
Some photos from Whittier, Alaska. One of the most interesting and downright bizarre locations I've ever had the pleasure of visiting. Shot on a D3 with a 70-200 f2.8VR and (the amazing!) 24mm PC-E tilt/shift. Details below each photo.
Fishing boats at the entrance of the small boat harbor.
Converted one way train tunnel which serves as the only entrance into town.
Tilt shift "miniature" photo of town taken from the 15th floor of the only residential building in the city- Begich Tower. All the cities residents, the police department, EMT, Post Office and city offices are in the building.
Another tilt shift shot showing the ferry terminal.

I like the tilt shift ones a lot!
That lens is AMAZING. I love it. Super super neat to play with. And the view from our window in Whittier was such a great location to practice.
I like that dark tunnel one a lot. really feels like you're being loomed over and creepy.
Oh, and the fact that that's the ONLY way in and out of the town is nuts. Very hills have eyes ghost town notion.
Yeah- crazy place. Make sure to click the wiki link in the post body for some history on Whittier. The tunnel was only fairly recently opened to cars. You used to only be able to get there by boat or train. The tunnel is only one way- outbound on the hour and inbound on the half. They also receive some ridiculous amount of snowfall- like 300in. Including the building I'm in the two photos encapsulate the ENTIRE town. It's easily one of the most interesting places I've been.
