Alaska (a few shots from a few days)

Here are some photos I took of the last couple of days we've been in Alaska, though not in any particular order. See comments under each. Shot with 70-300mm vr, 24-70mm, on a D700. Thanks Joni!

Hand painted signage in Whittier, AK (Looks like my kind of town)

Seaview Cafe in Hope, AK (one of our lunch spots)

Glacier near Portage Lake (there are lots of waterfalls at the edges of the glaciers)

Old fence near Potter Marsh (site of old snow blowing train engine)

Fishers in Anchorage, AK (everyone in Alaska seems to take their fishing very seriously)

Lake Hood, in Anchorage (sea planes are more useful than cars in most of Alaska)

Otters near Surprise Glacier in Prince William Sound (our guide gave the heads up for a "rogue otter on ice")

Love the cafe one. I want to sit in there, have a cup of coffee, piece of pie and listen to the gossip.

Yeah I know! I was super psyched. Soon as I saw it, I jumped out and went in. I'll have to post a shot from the interior soon, as well as neighboring buildings. You'll love it.

For some reason the first one makes me think 'tasty goodness' if I don't read it. Makes me think its describing some yummy dessert or something. The cafe one has a great quality! It looks like a painting almost because of all the roughed up textures.

Some great character shots here. and i love those sneaky otters!

Moo, you would have LOVED the otters. They were sooo cute. We'd zoom by on the boat snapping photos, and they'd have a paw up as if waving sometimes. Plus, they were always swimming on their backs and rubbing their faces with paws. They were super shy too.
