Sunset & Silhouette 3

Matt and Moo inspired me to share my attempt at photographing the sunset, though I think it was just a hair too late. This one is from a pier in Red Hook, Brooklyn, looking out at Staten Island. It's so hard to capture the color properly! (See John's shot from the same time and spot on 4/21) Anyone else have sunsets/sunrises to share?

I've got 2 more shots i'll post. You're totally right about capturing sunset colors. It's like trying to capture an eclipse properly I find. You only have a small window of a few seconds to get that color, if you miss it by even half a second the sun is gone! I never knew how fast the sunset was until I tried to catch it.

Still, really nice shot. The cool blues of the water and sky sandwich that nice warm strip of sun very prettily. And I like the little city twinkles.

Weird- yours came out with richer reds and oranges, mine came out with richer blues. I would guess this is due to me snapping mine later than yours. Awesome photo. Fun that we were in exactly the same spot for the same duration of time, took almost the same shot and got very different results.

You broke the rules and cut this in half but it still looks awesome. :)
