This is just another day in a small town in Guatemala called Payá, where life is tough but simple, with beautiful people, full of culture and beliefs, living day by day... this was taken 5 years ago, when I was traveling around my beautiful country.
This photo is so curious to me on many levels, by content and form. For one, the painted lettering and colorful walls. And second, for this seen of everyday life in another place. I love seeing how others live, work, etc.
The colors and surfaces caught in the photo are really rich; like the graffiti scratching on the left with the textures on the lower half, the over painting on the top right, to the folds in the fabric of the men's shirts.
Great photo, the colors and the composition are very inviting. The hand-painted type also adds a great element. I get the impression that these two men are waiting for their ride to work. Was this shot taken in the morning?
I think we all forget that there's such a huge world out there outside where we are doing our humdrum 9-5's (despite being born and raised somewhere else I know I forget), seeing an everyday scene of characters like t his one makes me really miss it. Very nice post.
Actually you can see men like that all day long, I don't know why but almost only men... It is really weird to see women like that, just killing time.
In this little town as other towns in Guatemala men dress with really bright color just like them and women used the typical costume called "güipil" (blouse) and "corte" (long skirt). The men lost their costume when they started working in the city.

About us:
We know many different types of people: Old and young. Some with background studies in the arts and others in the Sciences. Some may be self-taught tradesmen. Although they have divergent careers and very different upbringings, we've found that many have a common interest in photography.
We all love to press the shutter button, hear that tiny "click" and know that an image is made. Maybe it's a portrait, maybe a landscape, or maybe just a happy accident—the images taken are as different as the individuals that took them.
We formed Le Clique to bring together all of those different people, give them a forum to post their work, and enjoy the juxtapositions, harmony, and contrast between the things they love to photograph. Our contributors have two very simple rules: you must take the photo yourself and it must be for the simple joy of taking it.

Plus, I'm really into these dead-on shots lately. I guess because they place the viewer on the same plane?
