Sunset & Silhouette 5

After a little absence, I'm back with a pic I took yesterday. This was the view we had at a wedding (another one this season!) we went to. Its not exactly sunset but I think it blends in with our collaborative "Sunset & Silhouette" efforts. I also would like to connect it to M. Hudson's "The Way I See It" posted on 06/11/09. There was a point made about the de-saturation etc. I found it interesting because I took a ton of the same shot trying to catch the colors and saturation of the green grass and trees and the light oranges in the sky –only to fail because I'm still fiddling & playing with my new low light lens i got. BUT ultimately, the picture I liked the most was this one which basically has practically no color at all compared to all the others and my original goal to capture.

Also I found the double sun bursts and the 'upside down trees' super neat.

Ah that mirrored effect is really cool for trees and that sun burst. I think the bit of green you can see is great, but it would have been nicer to see more of it. All in all though, knowing that it's hard to not completely silhouette things when aiming straight at the light, this came out pretty attractive.

Yeah i like the Sun burst too!
I think the color detail in the clouds is nice also. I bet this would be a great hdr shot.

Great photo. Yeah HDR would nail this one although the dark silhouette works great as well. The symetrical sunbursts are definitely a plus. I'm surprised you only had a tiny patch of lens flare shooting directly into the sun- that new lens is doing a pretty nice job.

It's funny you guys are bringing up HDR, matt JUST explained it to me over the weekend while I was taking this shot actually! I had a hell of a time trying this one. I took about 10+ photos on different settings combos to get the green. The ones where I got more green had more glare. still though, I was surprised at how little. I would've thought the all pics would be ginormous glares and they weren't.

I really do wish I could've caught more of the sky color though. The oranges and the blues were beautiful.
